Company Environmental Policy
The primary business of the company is to supply
personal care products which endeavour to include sustainably sourced natural
or organic ingredients such as essential oils.
The philosophy of the company encapsulates responsible,
ethical and sustainable practises and as such the company exercises an
Environmental Policy to maximise Corporate Social Responsibility.
HealthQuest and all employees share joint ownership
of a policy of waste reduction, through improved recycling, reuse, and
utilisation of resources. This policy of continuous improvement is coordinated
and facilitated by the Office Eco Champion.
Paper is not wasted, i.e. printing is only done
when necessary and both sides are used before waste is recycled. Stationary and
Office Supplies are ordered and used only when necessary, and where possible
sustainable supplies are sought. Office equipment including computers, fax
machines and printers are repaired when faulty, and upgraded when only when
they cannot fulfil the tasks for which they are required, or operate in an
inefficient manner. Once obsolete for our purpose we endeavour to recycle and
dispose of all goods responsibly. The environmental efficiency of all
electronic equipment is considered before purchasing decisions are made.
Packaging materials received from suppliers are
re-used where possible (e.g. packing boxes & packing materials), and bio-degradable
starch chips are used for packing where appropriate.
Unnecessary travel is discouraged, and Public Transport
and walking is the preferred means, where sensible.
It is each staff member’s responsibility to limit consumption
of resources, and be aware of avoidable energy usage, for example; lights,
heating and computer equipment should be switched off when not in use for
substantial periods of time and before leaving work.
HealthQuest
aims to extend this policy to its immediate business partners, by not knowingly
operating with companies that act in direct contravention of HQ Environmental &
Ethical Policies.
Staff are expected not to use bad language and be
courteous in all circumstances within the company and when dealing with
suppliers and customers.
Ethical Purchasing Policy
Being an ethical company, suppliers are made aware
of our criteria for honesty, sustainability and fair trading.
We do not have a formal code of conduct for
suppliers but they are made aware of our ethical expectations, and their
importance for an ongoing mutually beneficial relationship.
Suppliers are made aware of our requirements and
are requested to supply goods accordingly. Dealings are with reputable
suppliers and trust is put in their integrity in confirming their ethical
credentials.
Special attention is given to ensure Suppliers are
paid on a timely basis to ensure appropriate flow of funds. Where funds are
required early, effort is made to accommodate any request.
